Become the expert in self-care that works for you with IFS Coaching

Katie LaCelle - Walking along a forest path

Our nervous systems are exhausted.

Let me explain.

The last few years have been really hard. Most of us have hit our limit with what’s going on in the world – especially those of us with a trauma history. You may know you’re only partially present in your life and feel ready for a change, but you don’t have the energy to try yet another thing.

Most of us weren’t taught how our nervous system works. But what if I told you that learning to regulate your nervous system could be the key to getting your energy back?

FAQS

  • IFS is a model used to develop self-awareness, self-trust, and self-compassion used by therapists, coaches, and many other practitioners. We go through the same training with the IFS Institute. However, a therapist has formal clinical education and supervision that (most) coaches do not have. Coaching is not equivalent to therapy, and IFS coaching does not treat medical conditions.

Any good IFS practitioner, regardless of licensure, has done quite a lot of their own IFS work (and continues to do so). This means they have access to their own Self-leadership. Doing your own work helps you to be aware of when you're outside of your scope and need to refer out. For example, if I encountered a part in one of my clients that was actively suicidal, I would know that was beyond my capacity as a coach and needed to be referred to a mental health professional.

  • IFS coaching is all about getting to know and trust the leader you have inside you. In fact, I sometimes think of IFS Coaching as another form of leadership coaching. One of the key principles of IFS is that we all have a Self who is not a part, and that Self has access to the wisdom and knowledge of all your parts as well as the ability to make grounded decisions. Being Self-led is effectively a superpower.

The possibilities are endless. Access to self-energy and the ability to be self-led are the key to inner peace, wisdom, and calm. The model is an incredibly well-documented way to build self-awareness, self-compassion and self-trust.

  • We will use our half hour call to discuss your specific situation: where you feel stuck, what your goals are, etc. I will answer any questions you have about the model, and we will both get a sense of whether we are a good fit to continue this work together.

  • The IFS Institute is the best source of information. Please feel free to go here to watch a short video on what IFS is (from the founder, Dr. Richard Schwartz).

If you are someone who enjoys looking at clinical studies, this page contains information on the latest IFS research.

  • We’re likely a good fit if:

✓ You have the stability, space, and resources in your life to be open to more profound changes.

✓ You want to use IFS to understand more about the messages you are receiving from your body via symptoms like chronic migraines or muscle tension.

✓You have insomnia and want to understand what’s blocking you from getting deep, nourishing sleep. You may also want to check out my IFS for Insomnia course.

✓ You are curious about doing general IFS work for other challenges such as anxiety and burnout.

✘ We are NOT a good fit if you’re looking for an insurance company model of healthcare. I am an IFS practitioner, not a licensed mental health professional.

✘ We are NOT a good fit if you are looking for short-term or quick fixes. IFS and healing work move at the speed your system allows, and we will not violate the consent of any part of you to speed it up.
